EdTech Blogs

Some of the best places to find up to date teaching pedagogy and edtech ideas come from current and former teachers who continually update their teaching blogs. Below is a list of a few great blogs that I go to for new ideas and inspirations that help me grow in my vocation!

Catlin Tucker Teaching Blog
Catlin Tucker is a high school English teacher and California Teacher of the Year who has both published a couple teaching books and consistently updates her blog with great teaching ideas that she herself has put into practice. Of all the teaching blogs that I follow I would say that I follow hers the most frequently. She recently wrote about how she is having her students replace their writing notebooks with educational blogs of their own!

Lisa Nielsen: The Innovative Educator
Lisa Nielsen is a Director of Digital Engagement and Professional Learning who spends her free time Blogging about how to become an effective connected educator, how students can use social media in a positive way, and the power of mobile learning. One of her recent posts was titled "This Hack will Help you Deliver Killer Presentations" and provides detailed instructions on how to create transcribed videos that can easily be shared with your audiences.

MindShift
MindShift is an organization launched in collaboration with KQED and NPR that "explores the future of learning in all its dimensions." Mindshift focuses on every aspect of the student in how they learn and the impact of new teaching practices as well as the resurgence of old techniques and philosphies. One recent article titled "Why Empathy Holds the Key to Transforming 21st Century Learning" provides a unique look at a unifying concept that all student-teacher relationships are bound by.
